HOME OF THE WARLORDS

Kokhanok Village (Qarr’unaq) is a federally recognized tribe located in a small, remote community on the south shore of Iliamna Lake. Kokhanok is situated 22 miles south of Iliamna, 88 miles northeast of King Salmon, and approximately 200 air miles from Anchorage. Our village is nestled adjacent to the stunning Lake Iliamna and the expansive Katmai National Park.

Kokhanok boasts a rich cultural heritage, deeply rooted in the traditions of our Alaska Native ancestors. Subsistence living is central to our community life, with residents engaging in the harvest of fish, caribou, moose, and other wildlife. This way of life is not only a key part of our culture but also vital for our sustenance.

With a population of around 170, Kokhanok is a close-knit community where traditional values and modern needs come together. Our village continues to thrive through the strength of our cultural practices and the unity of our community and tribal members.
