Efficient & Effective

Our administrative office ensures the efficient and effective operation of Kokhanok Village by handling our day-to-day administrative tasks which include managing grants and contracts, overseeing finances, and ensuring we are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Our admin team takes on many responsibilities ranging from bookkeeping and grant writing to project management, human resource and community planning. They facilitate our monthly and annual meetings, and serve as the primary point of contact for residents, tribal members and partner organizations, facilitating communication and collaboration to support the needs and goals of our village.

Featured Projects

The Multi-Purpose Building will be a single story 5,000 square foot facility with up to a 20,000 square foot gravel pad and short gravel access road, anticipated to be 640 feet in length.

The facility will provide expanded space to conduct tribal programming to include youth enrichment, elder support, and provide public access to high-speed internet, as well indoor space for community events. Additionally, the space will provide additional capacity for the Tribal government to conduct efficient delivery of tribal programs such as language revitalization, ICWA, IGAP, cultural programming and improved efficient general administration of the Tribal government. Providing dedicated, intentionally designed space to conduct these services and functions will directly meet the needs of our community.

The Kokhanok Community Playground will be installed adjacent to the future Kokhanok Multipurpose Facility. The playground will include swings, slides, climbing structures, and interactive play panels. It will be meet safety standards and will be ADA compliant. The playground will also feature shaded areas and seating for parents and guardians to watch over their children and interact with other parents.

The goal of this project is to provide a safe and accessible place for children to play in our community and provide families with a place to spend quality time together. This will be a valuable addition to our village, providing an engaging place to play and socialize, and promote healthy living.

Purchase of equipment, supplies and freight for this project is funded by the Thriving Communities grant through RurAL CAP.

Kokhanok’s Paradigm Shift: Big Battery as our System’s Energy Backbone Project

We’ve been selected for a U.S. Department of Energy grant! The DOE’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations picked Kokhanok Village’s clean energy project to install a 1 MW battery energy storage system—as well as 100 kW solar PV, a new 100 kW wind turbine, and electric thermal storage (ETS) heating units—to Kokhanok, Alaska’s microgrid. Ours was one of 19 grant projects chosen to develop and deploy sustainable clean energy solutions and expand access to reliable and affordable energy technology across rural and remote America!
