Efficient & Effective

Our administrative office ensures the efficient and effective operation of Kokhanok Village by handling our day-to-day administrative tasks which include managing grants and contracts, overseeing finances, and ensuring we are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Our admin team takes on many responsibilities ranging from bookkeeping and grant writing to project management, human resource and community planning. They facilitate our monthly and annual meetings, and serve as the primary point of contact for residents, tribal members and partner organizations, facilitating communication and collaboration to support the needs and goals of our village.

The Multi-Purpose Building will be a single story 5,000 square foot facility with up to a 20,000 square foot gravel pad and short gravel access road, anticipated to be 640 feet in length.

The facility will provide expanded space to conduct tribal programming to include youth enrichment, elder support, and provide public access to high-speed internet, as well indoor space for community events. Additionally, the space will provide additional capacity for the Tribal government to conduct efficient delivery of tribal programs such as language revitalization, ICWA, IGAP, cultural programming and improved efficient general administration of the Tribal government. Providing dedicated, intentionally designed space to conduct these services and functions will directly meet the needs of our community.

The Kokhanok Community Playground will be installed adjacent to the future Kokhanok Multipurpose Facility. The playground will include swings, slides, climbing structures, and interactive play panels. It will be meet safety standards and will be ADA compliant. The playground will also feature shaded areas and seating for parents and guardians to watch over their children and interact with other parents.

The goal of this project is to provide a safe and accessible place for children to play in our community and provide families with a place to spend quality time together. This will be a valuable addition to our village, providing an engaging place to play and socialize, and promote healthy living.

Purchase of equipment, supplies and freight for this project is funded by the Thriving Communities grant through RurAL CAP.

This project, funded by the Alaska Native Women’s Resource Center, aims to establish a Tribal Victim Services

Program in Kokhanok Village. The program will hire a Victim Services Coordinator, whose primary responsibilities will include providing direct assistance to crime victims and their families through telephone and in-person contacts. They will offer emotional support, resources, and referrals to

address the challenges faced by victims. The coordinator will also provide information and referral services to connect victims and loved ones with other agencies, counselors, legal services, medical services, support groups, and shelters. Additionally, they will attend and facilitate community meetings to address victim issues and promote awareness of available services.

To support the Victim Services Coordinator, a Program Assistant will be hired. This individual will assist with

administrative tasks and data entry, enabling the coordinator to focus on providing direct assistance to victims effectively. Furthermore, a Cultural Outreach Coordinator will be employed to increase public awareness of the services available to victims and their families. This coordinator will organize events that incorporate cultural practices and traditional ways of supporting crime victims, such as talking circles, traditional healing, and other cultural activities aimed at promoting healing for victims and their families.

The project’s overall goal is to provide comprehensive support to victims of crime in Kokhanok Village by offering culturally appropriate resources, assistance, and awareness of services available to them.

The Quapaw House, a property owned by the Kokhanok Village Council, is receiving a much-needed expansion to address the ongoing demand for housing in our community. With a particular focus on providing accommodation for itinerant workers, such as clinic staff, the KVC has decided to transform this old building into a functional duplex. This project is funded through housing revenue from the rental of our other village buildings, ensuring that the growth of our housing infrastructure is self-sustaining. Under the guidance of foreman Robert Hill, the Quapaw House Addition will provide much-needed space to support the needs of our village and visitors alike.
